Could we climb into a bubble and float away?
just for a day
or maybe a week
Hell, why not another?
we could sift through the clouds
or stroke passing leaves
stare through sunbeams
and perch on the breeze
Day could chase night,
away for a while,
so dreams could stay
within daydreaming.
chatter would be unwelcome
hubbub would be banished
and the pain of life
would never have existed.
We could go grab a boat down by that little harbour
one they wouldn't miss
it wouldn't need to be big
just enough for us two
with a little sail in baby blue
which would wink at the sea
as you and I became 'we'.
Night would chase day
and the buzz of life would

The Stranger in the Waiting Room
There's that man again
With the greasy hair,
ratty face,
pointing fingers
and vicious smile.
His wicked ideas of
what is interesting
and what makes him laugh.
Keeps on asking you
your age
while licking his lips.
He has no reason
to be where he is.
He has no reason
to be near you.
And yet he lingers.
Asking questions.
Telling stories
of babies' heads
popping out of their sockets
while he laughs
and flirts with nurses
and complains about the TV
which he isn't watching.
What he is watching
is you.
And he watches you intently.
Squinting and wondering aloud
why you are uncomfortable
why you are stressed
what you are doing
how old you are

Grandfather's Clock
When
your clock
stopped
so did
my watch
Yet
the world
kept on ticking.
Still
there's a bustle
in
the street
while
the candle wick
is burning.
My mind
won't move
while yours
has left
and I am
stuck here
yearning.
When your heart
stopped
mine
skipped a beat
and yet
the world
kept turning.
Your hands
went cold
as did
my soul
But still
I must keep
churning.
I tried
to find
That peaceful
place
To keep
the darkness
from stirring
But the memory
burns through the
present's place
I guess
I am still learning
I need to
stop
that
silly thought
that one day
you're returning.
